Researching LGBTQ DC

Exploring resources at the DC History Center and other local repositories

Oral Histories

The Rainbow History Project maintains an extensive, on-going oral history program. Due to restrictions placed by the narrators, only some of the oral histories have been digitized. Please visit the RHP website's Oral Histories page and contact RHP directly at oralhistories@rainbowhistory.org to inquire about the availability of oral histories and how to access them.

Walking Tours and other endeavors

RHP maintains its own archives and the history of the DC LGBT community at http://www.rainbowhistory.org. The organization also creates walking tours and recognizes Community Pioneers through programming and tributes.

Audiovisual Materials

The Rainbow History Project maintains rich holdings of audiovisual material. Digitized material is made available through the organization's YouTube channel.

Highlighted features include:

The Cheryl Spector Collection

Additional digital material is made available through SmallWonderMedia, including the Rainbow History Project video series on The ClubHouse, and via the Internet Archive, with a spotlight on the Friends Radio program.
